Members of the Minneapolis FFA Chapter attended the North Central District Greenhand Conference held on September 29 at Concordia. The conference was for all Greenhand/first year members and hosted by the North Central District officers. Students from 24 schools from North Central Kansas participated in the event. The members took a test over FFA information. Bringing home medals were Colby Berry, Meredith Clark, Justin Klein, Vyctorya Allison, Camden Coday, Amy Hauck, and Robert Prickett out of 240 students. Colby Berry tied for 1st in the information test with a student from Washington and Clay Center. Meredith Clark and Justin Klein tied for 2nd place honors. Also participating were Drew Belvill, Dylan Bretton, Kyle Wolfe, Cody Nichols, Luke Eckert, and Stuart Griffin.
Throughout the
conference, the members had the opportunity to visit with the
district officers. The members were given the chance to
realize the opportunities the FFA organization has to offer each
individual. In the conference workshops, the district
officers challenged the members to develop leadership skills, which
would enable them to be a more positive person who their peers
would look to for guidance and direction. The members were
also encouraged to focus on the future and recognize that the FFA
organization provides activities that can develop life skills
essential in today’s world.
